Switch Doubles (presented by Mike Barrell, Great Britain)
What is Switch Doubles?
Switch doubles is a social doubles competition where players change partners during each match.
Organiser tips
COURTS AND PLAYERS: Works best with 10+ players, number each player from 1-10 (if you have 10 players).
SCORING: Matches are 6 games but players change doubles partner every 2 games, ensuring they play with every player on the court. Players record individually how many games they win per match.
SCORESHEETS: Enter the scores each player wins per match on the scoresheet (see page 2)
Activity
ORDER OF PLAY: After numbering your players, send them on court following the order of play (see page 2)
AT THE END: The player with the most games won in total is the winner.
Adapt the Format
Many formats can easily be adapted to suit players aged under 10, mixed ages, teams and to be a more or less competitive event.
Download ‘ADAPTING COMPETITION’ for a quick and easy guide to adapting this format to suit your needs.
Themes
Many competitions are more fun and easier to promote if they have a theme such as Davis Cup, Olympics or Family Day attached.
